A Word for the Congregation of Morphett Vale Baptist Church.

The following Revelation was received by Paul Davies on 14th Feb, 1999. As with all prophetic words, these must be weighed and tested with a spirit of humility and repentance. Where Bible passages are referred to, the interpretations given are not intended to be seen as the interpretation of the passage, but as God speaking to his people’s current situation by giving an interpretation.

In Pastor Barry’s Evening Sermon, he spoke from 1 Samuel Chapter 1, about Samuel’s mother Hannah’s barrenness and desperation before the Lord for a child. Barry related this to a “barrenness” in many of our congregation, and a need to press in to the Lord for our “spiritual children”. Barry also made a comment about the immaturity and inaccuracy of many Prophetic people at this time. During the sermon, the Lord quickened several verses to my heart, and spoke to me about our Church and our “spiritual children”.

1Cor. 4:15   “Even though you have ten thousand guardians (instructors - KJV) in Christ, you do not have many fathers...”

I believe the Lord is offering to Morphett Vale Baptist Church the opportunity to become Spiritual Fathers to the next generation. This is a vital ministry as so many of the younger generations are fatherless, or have not been Fathered. It also involves an element of the Elijah call to the Church from Malachi 4:5 - 6:

"See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."

It is important that the hearts of the Fathers are turned to the children first, so that the children can respond.

In our church at the moment we have a distinct lack of people willing to be Spiritual Parents. This barrenness is clearly seen in the children’s ministry, where few are willing to give up some of their “blessing” time in church to be a blessing to the children for a few weeks. I believe this reluctance is, in part, due to a lack of understanding about who these children are in God, and Samuel is a type of this generation.

1. But to Hannah he gave a double portion because he loved her, and the LORD had closed her womb (1Sam. 1:5, emphasis mine)

The double portion is prized in Scripture, and speaks of the inheritance rights of the firstborn son, who received a double portion of the estate from the father, whereas the others received a single portion. It is also a symbol of blessing, and has another important meaning I will discuss later. The significance of this verse is that Samuel, the child of Promise, was a child of the “Double Portion”. Similarly, the Samuel Generation will receive the double portion.

I believe the Lord is offering a “Double Portion” of His Spirit to those willing to respond to His call to be Spiritual Parents to this upcoming Generation, even in the midst of our current barrenness.

2. “In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions” (1Sam. 3:1, emphasis mine).

As Barry mentioned in his sermon, the Prophetic ministry at this time does not have a lot of accuracy, and is still in immaturity - the true Word of the Lord is very rare in our time. This is another example of our barrenness. We live in a time where the Prophetic Church of Joel 2:28ff is just beginning to learn to “walk”, and mistakes and inaccuracies abound. We are still waiting for the fulfilment of “their sons and daughters will prophesy...” (Joel 2:28ff).

3. “The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground (1Sam. 3:19, emphasis mine).

The children of the “double portion” have been under the care and protection of the Lord as they grew, and they, like Samuel, will enter a place where they have 100% accuracy in the Prophetic. No other Prophet of the Old Testament was given this testimony in Scripture. Samuel never got it wrong. the accuracy in the Prophetic is coming, and the Lord is offering us a chance to partake in “parenting” those who will bring it.

4. “And the LORD said to Samuel: "See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle” (1Sam. 3:11).

For many years the Lord has been speaking to mature Prophets (there are some) about the Samuel Generation, which He called “the Generation of the Righteous” (Ps 14:5 KJV). He stood before the Prophet, Paul Cain, and said: “They will receive the Double Portion - that is: the Spirit without any limits”. The Lord told Paul that the first miracle Jesus had done on earth (Water into Wine) was a Prophetic sign of the End Times (the First will be last ...) - God saves the Best till last! He said He had limited what was available to His first century Apostles because He was saving the fullness for the End Times.

Several years ago, the Lord spoke to Mike Bickle (Pastor of Metro Christian Fellowship, Kansas City) on a retreat in Egypt, and said: “I am going to change the face of the Church in one Generation”. This “Samuel Generation”, the children of Promise, or the Children of the Double Portion, are those born since around the mid-sixties, when abortion began to increase. This is because Satan always responds to the release of the Anointed Seed of God by attempting to kill off the Babies. Every Child alive today has been rescued by the Lord from Satan’s attempt to kill them before they could enter into their inheritance - the Lord has truly been “with” them as they grew (ref: 1 Sam 3:19).

Many others are seeing these Children as the Joshua Generation, because of the Leadership anointing they will carry. They are all aspects of the Generation of the Righteous.

The scariest part of this Prophecy is from Malachi 4:6: “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."

In the last few weeks, Barry has preached about us being “Dead to self”, and “taking up our cross”. I believe the Lord is offering this opportunity to parent the Samuel generation to us, but there will be severe consequences if we refuse to take up our Cross in this case. The curse of Malachi is that the Inheritance will be cut off. Since our children are our inheritance - it may well mean the transfer of God’s purpose from us to another Body who is willing. this is not meant to imply that this is limited to our Church in any way, but don’t we want to be a part of the Lord doing something that will “make the ears of everyone who hears of it tingle” (1Sam. 3:11).

I believe there is nothing more important to the Lord in terms of Practical Service at this time than parenting the Samuel Children. If we wish to take part in the blessings they bring, we need to take part in raising them up in the knowledge of the Lord. We need to earnestly seek the Lord about our involvement in ministries in the Church, and ask Him for clear revelation of where He wants us. The Children’s ministry is not an up-front, glamorous one, but it is vital, and will provide you with on opportunity to practise skills that will benefit your ministry elsewhere as well.
